Graham Routledge, photography, lavender
A patient of my mother's, now no longer with us, was aware of my interest in photography and donated his camera to me.  This camera, a Praktica - Nova 1, 35mm is the source of many of these images.  This close up of a lavender plant was one of the first pictures I took with this camera.

Graham Routledge, TVR, Griffith
A collection of images of my TVR Griffith 500.  TVR have in the past, to my mind at least, made some of the best looking cars around.  Some of their more recent models are less appealing than the Tuscan, Chimaera or the Griffith pictured here but I'll always have a soft spot for a car manufacturer that can make cars that look, sound and go like a charging TVR.

Graham Routledge, Photography, rose
The scanned image of this Rose doesn't do the original image justice.  Much of the petal detail has been lost, something I'll rectify in time.

I took this picture on a beautiful clear morning.  The dawn light was being refracted by each of the dew drops on the leaf, each of them producing a rainbow effect.  Unfortunately I'd forgotten at the time that I was using a black & white film!?  Else this would have been quite a spectacular image...  Doh!!  Oh well I guess there's a learning curve!?!?

Beautiful sunset in Lancaster taken with a Canon A300 digital camera.  Digitally captured images are never as "good" as 35mm film but I like these pictures all the same.  We were lucky enough to live towards the top of a hill that affords us such stunning evening views.

Graham Routledge, Photography, ski slopes
Spectacular image taken on the ski slopes of Bulgaria.  If only we had snow like that in the UK!!!

Taken in the early hours, the mist drifting fast and low over the land created an atmosphere I was determined to try and capture.

Rolling mist on Westbury White Horse in Wiltshire.

Graham Routledge, Photography, Scooby
This is my take on the background image entitled "Friend", of a Black Labrador on a wooden floor that comes on the Windows XP operating system.  Due to the compression needed to make the image load faster over the internet the quality is slightly degraded and the colour looks patchy but I hope the you get the idea.

Graham Routledge, Photography, Moon
This is my first astronomical picture.  Taken with the Praktica camera coupled to a 6" Helios reflector telescope.  Although the image is slightly over exposed some detail is visible.  Unfortunately the Praktica camera uses a combination of Fresnel lensing, ground glass and micro prism screen in the viewfinder designed to aid focusing.  While this is useful in well lit, relatively close up situations it actually hinders the ability to judge fine focusing in low light situations such as this.  Hopefully soon I'll be able to improve on this but I don't think it's that bad for a first shot!??!

Raindrops on a winters day.

Graham Routledge, Photography, moon
Some more, more recent moon pictures.  Taken with a Canon digital camera held just over the eye piece of the telescope. You're supposed to use a second tripod for the camera to get good steady shots.... but it was far too cold to start messing around setting it up, so I did these by hand :-)

Graham Routledge, Photography, Glacier, Switzerland
The stunning Aletsch Glacier taken from the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland while on holiday way back in the late 80's.
