EISCAT experiment campaign - 24th June - 10th July 2008:  Multi-radar measurements of HF-modulated Polar Mesospheric Summer Echoes (PMSE) at the European Incoherent Scatter Facility, Tromso, Norway.

LAPBIAT2 - Lapland Atmosphere-Biosphere Facility, 8th June - 23rd June 2008:  - Ionospheric and PMSE chemistry modelling at the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory (SGO), Northern Finland.

EISCAT Workshop and Radar School (Poster Presentation) 6th - 10th August 2007: Conference held in Mariehamn, Åland Islands in the south-west of Finland.  Poster presentation of further research developments under the title "D-layer electron temperature estimates from Heater-modulated PMSE as observed by the IRIS riometer".

RAS & NAM Conference (speaker) 16th - 20th April 2007: A week long conference at the University of Central Lancashire.  Presentation of research work so far under the title "HF heater effect on PMSE as observed by the IRIS riometer".

PPARC Introductory Summer School in Solar and Solar-Terrestrial Physics - 4th to 8th September 2006 :  A five day course held at the Centre for Astrophysics, University of Central Lancashire.  This course entitled: Energy flow from the Sun to the Earth, looked at the solar environment and processes within the Sun, space weather - solar flares and CMEs, through to their impact on the Earth's Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and the Earth itself.

EISCAT Training Course - 15th to 19th May 2006 :  A five day course at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford.  The course was designed to develop the skills needed to analyse the data from the European Incoherent SCATter radars in Northern Scandinavia.  This course also taught background theory of Incoherent Scatter Radars, Ionospheric Heating and Dynasonde instruments.

MIST - UKSP Conference 10th - 13th April 2006: A four day conference at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Information

Although I trained as a carpenter for only one year I gained a large number of practical skills which I still use today.  I have made a number of picture frames and cabinets in my spare time.  I have interests in Photography, Astronomy, anything mechanical or electronic and have a long held interest in aviation and astronautics.  My education to date has given me extensive experience of various office computer applications, internet, HTML / XHTML, CSS design programming (this site and a local school website, although I am entirely self taught in this area), LaTeX, Javascript, Flash animation & ActionScript (click here for an example), Professional video and photograph editing suites, Visual C, MATLAB programming languages and Unix operating systems.
