Since I was maybe 8 or 9 years old I’ve wanted to fly. I remember vividly an RAF Phantom flying low over my junior school playing field, so low I could make out its registration mark. More over what stuck with me was the noise!! I remember thinking, Wowww!!! It’d be so cool to do that!?!? So I’d set it in my mind from an early age that I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I grew up…. That or an Astronaut anyway! It’s a belief I stuck to rigidly, some times naively, but I always said that nothing would stop me from flying. My career has initially taken me down a different path but I’m still determined to get my pilot’s licence. I’ve only had a few hours of lessons so far and I'm a long way short of the 40 plus hours needed for a private licence, mainly because flying in the UK is so expensive… SO.. in the mean time the only economical way of gaining any air time is via Microsoft’s Flight Simulator. I've found a couple of good websites for additional aircraft and scenery at Simviation.com and SurClaro.com, for anyone interested in MS flight Simulator. |
